Kutmah - A Tribute to Brother Ras G & The Afrikan Space Program Vinyl LP
A beat-tape eulogy for LA's cosmic crate digger, Ras G.
- Kutmah's tribute album to the late Ras G of the Afrikan Space Program
- Lo-fi, MPC-driven beats, chopped samples and spoken word
- Includes G Speaks, Beat Soup, Time for Luv and Diggin at Poobah
Kutmah made this album after the death of his friend Ras G in 2019, as a way to work through the loss of one of the most beloved figures in the Los Angeles beat scene. Ras G, leader of the Afrikan Space Program, was a mainstay of the Low End Theory era and Poobah Records, and this tribute honors him in his own language: chopped and screwed samples, spoken word, lo-fi drums and loose, MPC-driven grooves, with recurring Oh Ras samples threading it together. G Speaks, Beat Soup, Time for Luv and Diggin at Poobah are among its short, heartfelt sketches.
