Album Facts
Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk Vinyl LP
Synthesized nostalgia twinged with kitschy catchiness & warped hooks
- Vinyl pressing of Magdalena Bay's acclaimed 2024 album Imaginal Disk
- Hyper-pop marvel with the duo's signature visual and sonic world-building
- Essential modern pop pickup for any forward-thinking collection
Imaginal Disk is the second album from Magdalena Bay, the Los Angeles duo of Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin, released in August 2024 on Mom+Pop. The pair met as teenagers in a Miami high school music program and started out in a prog band, and that love of big, shape-shifting songs runs all through this sprawling sci-fi pop odyssey. Loosely following a character who receives a disk that rewrites her mind, it flows from prog-pop and synth-pop into disco and soft rock, with Image, Death & Romance, Killing Time, Tunnel Vision and Cry for Me as standouts. Pressed on double vinyl.
