Matsushita was already a first-call session guitarist and a founding member of AB's when he made First Light in 1981, and it has since become one of the records people mean when they say city pop. The playing is unshowy and exact, the songs breathe, and Kaoru Izima's cover photograph of a lit street at dusk has done as much for its reputation as the music. Air Records issued it first, Moon picked it up a year later. This pressing reproduces the original jacket and comes on clear deep pink vinyl.
