Wandering is the record that introduced Max McNown to most people, a sparse country-folk debut carried almost entirely by voice and acoustic guitar. The songs deal in restlessness and leaving without dressing either up, and the arrangements stay deliberately thin, which puts the writing where it belongs: out front, unprotected. It is the kind of debut that works better late at night than it does in a crowd. Released June 2024, and the starting point for everything since.
