By the third EP, Metro Area had an identity clear enough that other producers started borrowing it. The template holds: dry drums, melodic bass played by hand, chord work that gestures at disco strings without reaching for a sample. What changes is the confidence, and the arrangements here breathe more than on the earlier records. These four 12" singles were later gathered into the self-titled album, but the EPs are how the material was meant to land, one side at a time on a club system. Reissued by Environ in its original sleeve.
