Morgan Geist and Darshan Jesrani built Metro Area out of a shared obsession with slower tempos and the New York club records of the late seventies, and the result still sounds like nothing else. Assembled from a run of EPs that started in 1999, the album is a study in economy: live bass and strings threaded through drum machines, every part doing exactly one job. "Miura" and "Caught Up" remain the reference points. This anniversary edition spreads all twelve tracks across three discs, remastered by Matt Colton from the original tapes with new artwork.
