The record that turned a New Jersey post-hardcore band into something much larger. Howard Benson produced, and the songs arrive tighter and meaner than the debut: 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' built on one of the great self-deprecating hooks of the decade, 'Helena' written for Gerard and Mikey Way's grandmother, 'The Ghost of You' closing the loop on an album obsessed with loss and revenge. Ray Toro and Frank Iero's twin guitars do most of the heavy lifting, and the whole thing moves at a sprint. Still the purest distillation of what the band did.
