Recorded between 1988 and 1989 in an eight-track home studio in Amman, Pieces of a Dream documents a corner of the Arab music scene almost nobody wrote down. Basim Said, Khaldoon Nasser and Kassim Sabounchi were known locally for their sets at the club Rumours, but the music they wrote together was never released and stayed unheard even by friends. It is smooth R&B, jazz and sophisticated pop, closer to late-night Los Angeles than to Jordan, and it survived on a single cassette found in a family archive.
