Sticks & Stones is the record that took New Found Glory out of the Coral Springs basement circuit and onto every radio in Florida and well beyond. Neal Avron produced, and the polish suits them: Jordan Pundik's nasal yelp sits high in the mix while the guitars stay fast and bright underneath. 'My Friends Over You' is the one everybody knows, but 'Head On Collision' and 'Sonny' are where the writing actually deepens, trading the joke-heavy pop punk of the era for something closer to heartbreak played at double time.
