Album Facts
Nightmares On Wax - Smokers Delight Vinyl LP
Dusty soul samples and dub bass for slow, smoky afternoons.
- Vinyl reissue of Nightmares on Wax's 1995 album Smokers Delight
- Defining trip-hop and downtempo record with soulful samples and dusty beats
- Essential pickup for fans of late-night chillout and Warp-era trip-hop
Smokers Delight is the 1995 second album from Nightmares on Wax, the Leeds project of George Evelyn, and one of the records that defined Warp's laid-back side. Built from dusty soul and funk samples, deep dub bass, slow hip-hop breaks and wafting strings, it drifts from the opening Nights Introlude through Dreamstate and the warm, sample-stitched Me & You. Unhurried, hazy and endlessly replayable, it remains a blueprint for downtempo and trip-hop, as good at three in the afternoon as at three in the morning. This is Warp's 2014 reissue on double vinyl.
