Spiritual State is the third and final studio album from Nujabes, the Japanese producer whose warm, jazz-soaked beats shaped a generation of hip-hop. Still unfinished when he died in February 2010, it was completed by those closest to him and released by Hydeout Productions in December 2011. Every track is his production, with longtime collaborators Uyama Hiroto, Cise Starr, Pase Rock, Substantial and Haruka Nakamura helping carry it home. Highlights include Spiritual State, Gone Are the Days, City Lights and Rainyway Back Home. A gentle, moving farewell and essential listening alongside Modal Soul. This is the Japanese import edition.
