Prince Be wrote soul melodies over hip-hop drums and layered them until they floated, so "Looking Through Patient Eyes" and "I'd Die Without You" land closer to dream pop than to anything else on rap radio in 1993. Thirty-plus years on it sounds less like an outlier and more like a blueprint. This Friday Music reissue is pressed on galaxy blue vinyl. Street date: July 24.
