If there's one thing Panic Shack know, it's how to have a good time. The Cardiff five-piece, fronted by Sarah Harvey, formed in 2018 as a cheerful middle finger to the gatekept, pedal-fiddling seriousness of the indie and punk scenes, building a rabid word-of-mouth following on the back of riotous live shows that fuse thrashy punk with Go-Go's-meets-Iron Maiden swagger. After their lightning-in-a-bottle 2022 Baby Shack EP, their self-titled debut album is a serious level-up: produced by Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Perfume Genius, Yard Act), it widens their gutsy punk into fuller territory with vocal harmonies, synths, electronic experiments, and even a trumpet, across eleven breakneck, hook-packed tracks.
