The Fat of the Land is The Prodigy's 1997 third album, the record that carried big-beat electronica out of the rave scene and onto rock radio around the world. Liam Howlett's production is all distorted breakbeats, punk attitude and sirens, with Keith Flint and Maxim fronting the attack. "Firestarter" and "Breathe" are the obvious calling cards, while "Smack My Bitch Up," "Narayan" and the L7 cover "Fuel My Fire" show how far the band could push their sound. This is the XL Recordings CD edition, a loud, gleeful snapshot of late-nineties electronic music at full volume.
