Cold Fact is the debut album from Detroit singer-songwriter Sixto Rodriguez, released in 1970 on the Sussex label. It barely made a ripple at home, where Rodriguez remained an unknown, but the record found a devoted audience in South Africa and Australia, and he toured Australia in 1979. Decades later the documentary Searching for Sugar Man brought his story to the wider world. Sharp, streetwise folk-rock with psychedelic arrangements, it carries "Sugar Man," "Crucify Your Mind," "I Wonder" and "This Is Not a Song, It's an Outburst." A cult classic that belongs on every folk-rock shelf.
