Lovers Rock is Sade's fifth album, released in 2000 after an eight-year gap, and it is the band at its most stripped back and intimate. Produced by Sade with longtime collaborator Mike Pela, it trades lush arrangements for spare guitar, bass and Sade Adu's unhurried voice, touching on reggae and folk along the way. "By Your Side" is one of the most tender songs she ever wrote, "King of Sorrow" aches beautifully and "Somebody Already Broke My Heart" drifts like late-night radio. This edition is half-speed remastered at Abbey Road Studios and pressed on 180-gram vinyl in faithfully reproduced artwork.
