Tigray Funk is two years of work from a rapper who grew up between Tigray, Ethiopia and Black America, and it does not flinch at either. Across thirty two tracks Sideshow lays fragmented memories of war, heartbreak and the chase for the American dream over percussive, often minimal beats from Tony Seltzer, Anysia Kym, Laron, harrison and Popstar Benny. Niontay, El Cousteau and Kelow Latesha turn up along the way. It is a sprawling, politically charged record from MIKE's 10K camp, and the ambition holds together across all four sides.
