After the studio experiments of The Soft Parade, The Doors walked into 1970 and made a blues record. Morrison Hotel opens with "Roadhouse Blues" and never really lets go of that barroom stomp, with Ray Manzarek's keys pushed up against Robby Krieger's slide and Morrison sounding looser than he had in years. "Peace Frog," "Waiting for the Sun," and "Maggie M'Gill" round out a record that reads as a course correction and plays as a very good time. This Rhino pressing keeps the original running order.
