The Kingtones had been singing American pop in Japan for twenty years by 1978, best known as a doo-wop group, when they brought in Marie and turned toward city pop. What makes the record is the writing: Tatsuro Yamashita contributed three songs, Let's Dance Baby, Touch Me Lightly and My Blue Train, and the group sings them with the harmony discipline of a vocal band rather than a studio project. Ten tracks, five a side, on the Express label. Reissued for CITY POP on VINYL 2021.
