Recorded in Kuwait in 1980 by a Sudanese band who had spent years in club residencies and on television there, Jazz, Jazz, Jazz is horn-led and relentless. The arrangements move between instrumental tracks that could score a seventies crime film and modernized takes on rhythms from across Sudan, with an excursion into Congolese soukous, all held together by Saif Abu Bakr's voice. The reissue comes with a booklet of photos, interviews and liner notes documenting a Khartoum club scene that the political turns of 1983 and 1989 eventually closed down.
