"We Are the World" was originally recorded on January 28, 1985 as a groundbreaking musical collaboration aimed at raising funds and awareness for famine relief in Ethiopia. Nine months later, Hands Across America brought together one of the largest community participation events in American history to support hunger and homelessness efforts. U.S.A. for Africa's legacy endures today, with over $100 million contributed to humanitarian and community-driven initiatives across Africa and the U.S. through all efforts to date. This exclusive vinyl would continue that legacy.

To commemorate forty years since its original release, U.S.A. for Africa is planning a special 7" vinyl release of the newly digitally remastered "We Are the World" specifically for RSD Black Friday, with proceeds continuing to support the organization's ongoing humanitarian mission. Beyond the cultural significance of the song itself, the charitable nature of the project provides a strong foundation for the release. The combination of the milestone anniversary and the fact that this would mark the first reissue since the original 1985 release makes it a highly collectible and meaningful offering for both longtime fans and new audiences.

"We Are the World" remains one of the most recognizable and culturally impactful songs ever released, featuring iconic artists including Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, and many more. We are currently in touch with several participating artists' teams and estates, including Lionel Richie, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, and Cyndi Lauper, and would work closely with them to support and amplify the RSD release.
