New Album Releases & Arrivals September 25, 2026

September goes out counting anniversaries. B'Day turns twenty. Buena Vista Social Club turns thirty. Plantasia, the album Mort Garson wrote for houseplants, turns fifty and gets its first pressing you can compost. And Alice in Chains' MTV Unplugged, one of the most requested records at the counter for years, finally lands on vinyl at all.

The new blood holds its own against the calendar: Leon Bridges goes coastal with half of Jungle producing, KNEECAP's Irish-language debut hits wax for the first time, King Gizzard presses a live set onto a skull, and the DC hardcore shelf doubles down with Minor Threat and Fugazi cornerstones side by side.

It's the last Friday of the month, so this one collects everything: full write-ups on the titles we haven't covered yet, then a rundown of what's still in the racks from September's earlier drops. Shop the full September 25, 2026 collection here.

Alice in Chains - MTV Unplugged (Yellow Color) Vinyl LP

Alice in Chains - MTV Unplugged (Yellow Color) Vinyl LP album cover

Recorded in April 1996 at Brooklyn's Majestic Theatre, MTV Unplugged was Alice in Chains' first show in over two years and one of the last times the classic lineup played together. Stripped to acoustic guitars, "Nutshell," "Down in a Hole," "Rooster," and "Would?" get reframed, and the fragility only sharpens the harmony between Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell. The yellow 2LP is the indie exclusive. Pick up MTV Unplugged on yellow vinyl.

Why it's worth purchasing:

  • Yellow 2LP pressing only at independent record stores
  • The 1996 acoustic set, on vinyl at long last
  • The band at its most exposed and most beautiful

Alice in Chains - MTV Unplugged Vinyl LP

Alice in Chains - MTV Unplugged Vinyl LP album cover

The standard pressing of MTV Unplugged carries the same document straight: close harmony, brushed drums, and a band letting its heaviest songs stand in daylight, "Brother" included. Order MTV Unplugged on standard vinyl.

Why it's worth purchasing:

  • The full Majestic Theatre set across two LPs
  • Staley and Cantrell's harmonies, front and center
  • A grunge landmark finally in the vinyl racks

Beyonce - B'Day (20th Anniversary 180g) Vinyl LP album cover

The 20th anniversary edition spreads it across two 180g LPs, adds "Morning Dew (Donk)," and packs a 16-page booklet of unseen imagery. Grab B'Day at twenty on 180g vinyl.

Why it's worth purchasing:

  • 20th anniversary 2LP on 180g with 16-page booklet

Pick up So Much For Goodbyes on sun core yellow vinyl.

Fugazi - 13 Songs CD

Fugazi - 13 Songs CD album cover

13 Songs is where most people start with Fugazi, and it is not really an album at all: the first two EPs, 7 Songs from 1988 and Margin Walker from 1989, on one disc, which puts "Waiting Room," "Bulldog Front," and "Suggestion" in a row before the tighter, angrier back half. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Skull X-Ray (Deluxe Edition) (X-Ray Picture Disc) Vinyl LP album cover

King Gizzard's officially sanctioned Bootlegger Series goes macabre: Skull X-Ray nods to Soviet-era bone music, the underground records cut onto discarded medical x-rays, rendered as a one-sided picture disc of a human skull with a nail in the temple. The seven songs come from the band's own Field of Vision festival in Colorado in August 2025, pairing the opening run of I'm In Your Mind Fuzz with the Polygondwanaland stretch. Out this Friday. Grab Skull X-Ray on picture disc.

Why it's worth purchasing:

  • One-sided x-ray picture disc, out September 25
  • Live cuts from the 2025 Field of Vision festival
  • Bone-music homage from rock's most prolific band

KNEECAP - 3CAG Vinyl LP album cover

3CAG is where the Belfast trio's legend started: a defiant 2018 mixtape rapped largely in Irish, running hip-hop, dance, and punk energy into something entirely their own. Since then came international attention, a feature film, and festival headline slots; this pressing brings the raw, unfiltered origin to wax for the first time. Out this Friday. Pick up 3CAG on vinyl.

Why it's worth purchasing:

  • The 2018 debut's first-ever vinyl pressing, imported
  • Irish-language rap with punk in its blood
  • The origin story before the film

La Femme - Psycho Tropical Berlin Vinyl LP

La Femme - Psycho Tropical Berlin Vinyl LP album cover

La Femme's debut named its own genre: Psycho Tropical Berlin, where Biarritz surf guitar meets French cold wave and ye-ye pop, all deadpan vocals and motorik drive. "Sur la planche" remains the anthem, a song built to be hummed on a surfboard, and the record around it still sounds like a beach party in a bunker. Back in the racks on the Born Bad pressing with printed inner sleeves. Order Psycho Tropical Berlin on vinyl.

Why it's worth purchasing:

  • The 2013 French surf-wave debut, back in print
  • Home of "Sur la planche"

Milton Nascimento, Lo Borges - Clube da Esquina Vinyl LP

Milton Nascimento, Lo Borges - Clube da Esquina Vinyl LP album cover

Clube da Esquina is less an album than a whole scene captured at once: Milton Nascimento and Lo Borges at the center, the Minas Gerais crowd folded around them, moving between Brazilian folk, Beatles-shaped melody, jazz harmony, and something close to psych across twenty-one tracks that never read as a compilation. "Tudo Que Voce Podia Ser," "Cais," "O Trem Azul." One of 1972's monuments, imported. Grab Clube da Esquina on vinyl.

First Two Seven Inches gathers the two 1981 EPs that made Minor Threat the loudest argument in American hardcore: "Straight Edge," "Minor Threat," "In My Eyes," "Out of Step (With the World)," most of it under two minutes, Ian MacKaye laying out a code and daring you to keep up. It invented a subculture almost by accident, and Dischord keeps it in print because people keep needing it. On clear vinyl. Pick up First Two Seven Inches on clear vinyl.

Why it's worth purchasing:

  • The 1981 EPs on one clear-vinyl record
  • "Straight Edge" at the source

Mort Garson - Mother Earth's Plantasia (50th Anniversary Green Eco Mix Color) Vinyl LP album cover

Supertramp's 1979 peak is where the band's fussy studio craft and pop instincts finally met in the middle: "The Logical Song," "Goodbye Stranger," "Take the Long Way Home," and the title track, all Wurlitzer and saxophone that still sound like nothing else from the period.
